The wick is an incredibly important part of a candle, because it emits the light that you see, and its main job is to create a steady burn through the wax. PartyLite’s candles are made from cotton or wooden wicks, with the cotton braided, then dipped in wax to keep its shape.
We never use any nasty chemicals or metals that are sometimes inserted into wicks during candlemaking to make sure flames stay lit, but release harsh toxins into the air. Our BePURE Commitment™ and No-No List™ always keep our fragrance forms safe from ingredients that could harm you or your family.
All of our candles allow for an even burn, so of course this is true for our 3-Wick Jar Candles as well. The layout of the wicks allows for an even burn throughout the wax, provided you take care of them.

This means the consistent heating melts more wax across the surface, which generally ‘throws’ scents into a room quicker. ‘Fragrance throw’ is a term fragrance makers use to mean how much space a candle's scent will fill. The Questions You Wanted To Ask
Should you light all of the wicks on a 3-Wick Candle at once?
The first burn of a 3-Wick Jar Candle is the most important. You should trim all three wicks to ¼ inch (½cm) and burn them all at the same time. While each of the wicks burn, they create a small pool of melted wax around them, and eventually create one big pool, which should then stay provided you keep trimming after every burn.
Are 3-Wick Candles The Strongest Smelling Candle Type?
This question is not quite as straightforward as you might think! If you want the best and biggest fragrance experience, the 3-Wick Jar Candle is for you. It creates a larger wax pool, and therefore a bigger fragrance throw. Imagine lighting three small candles at once - the fragrance will be more intense. That's what three wicks do in one jar.
But strength is about more than that - it also depends on the fragrance blend you choose. Our 3-Wick Jar Candles come in a variety of aroma intensities, from the lighter scents that everyone will like, to the complex and powerful bolder scents. So you can still customise the ‘strength’ you want, even in this larger candle form.
What type of wax is used in a 3-Wick Candle?
Our artisan 3-Wick Jar Candles are made with an animal-friendly soy/paraffin wax blend. Meaning you get to enjoy a wax that holds its scent for longer, as well as being toxin and cruelty-free.
Although we use colorful wax, we never use synthetic dyes in our candles like others on the market, especially as these dyes release harsh chemicals into the air when burned.
What is the average burn time of a 3-Wick Candle versus a 'regular' candle?
PartyLite 3-Wick Jar Candles last up to 45 hours, provided you use them as we’ve recommended! Always remember to burn all three wicks for at least half an hour when you first light it to create an even wax pool.
Another important way to take care of your candle is to trim the wicks every time you use it, and letting it cool completely before your next use is crucial - this ensures that the wax pool melts evenly each time you light, lengthening the life of your candle. During the burn, try to keep your 3-Wick Jar Candle away from any vents or fans so the flame doesn’t go out, and never ever leave any debris like matches in the wax as this could cause the candle to burn unevenly.
